2025 Jaunt itinerary

Friday night briefing for SYC cruisers prior at 7pm… those racing will likely be joining the Vernon Dawson so they will be briefed by WYC for Saturdays events.

Saturday overnight at Whitby, leaving Scarborough along with WYC Vernon Dawson race, cruisers flying ensigns to show they are not taking part in the race and give consideration to the racers in allowing them both space and priority. Some Jaunters are planning to go directly to Hartlepool to meet on Sunday. A briefing for Sunday will be made on arrival at Whitby.

Sunday early bridge out of Whitby to Hartlepool, they are expecting us at the Marina, there wil likely be a wait on a favourable tidal height and lock numbers etc . Jaunters are advised to join NECRA Cruising for a favourable berthing rate ! Briefing for Monday will be once all moored securely.

Monday leaving early for Blyth. Barbeque on the beach weather permitting with the world famous SYC WYC RNLI Wellie Wanging challenge. RNYC are expecting us but there will be limited pontoon berths it is expected that we will have to raft up on the visitors pontoon. Blyth is accessible at all tides. Briefing for Tuesday once everyone is securely moored.

Tuesday leaving Blyth to rendezvous at Royal Quays waiting pontoons at 14.00hrs to dress the boats then leave for Newcastle City Marina. Jaunters please note Tyne VTL will be advised of our planned transit as a flotilla so unless you are well apart from the group there should be no need to contact them. Arrive NCM approx 16.30. Mooring will be tight with an anticipation of rafting up to four deep. A mooring plan will be worked out prior to our arrival with details shared prior to going up river and with instruction via VHF.

Wednesday the bridge will open late morning. (There is an option to stay at NCM through to Thursday)

Return plans are at skippers discretion. Royal Quay are expecting a number of boats to want to stay for a bath !!!
