Trafalgar Night Dinner 2018

A good time was had by all at this years Trafalgar Night dinner, or so I am told as from the kitchen we can’t see much of what goes on.

A traditional dinner served of a Pea and ham soup, followed by a smoked Salmon Flan, then the main course of roast Topside of Beef with home made Yorkshires and the usual two veg and two potatoes including my favourite, Marmite Roasties. I think all enjoyed the meal, and in the words of the Commodore they were all full as Butchers Dogs.

As I said we don’t see a lot from the kitchen but never the less I got the job of doing the write up, so from the kitchen perspective here we go. It started in the morning with boiling a couple of pieces of pork for the soup stock (yes it was home made), ok enough of that, I won’t bore you with the whole process, however it was a full day for both of us, that’s me and Svetlana my wife, she stayed home and continued with the soup, while I went to the club around 1400 to start the roast and lay up the tables, Yorkshires in after that, then it was 2000hrs and you know the rest.

I am very pleased with the way it all went and pleased that everyone enjoyed it.
